Feds Crack Down on Riot Funders With Harsh Warning

The FBI and IRS aren’t mincing words: if you’re funding anti-ICE rioters, prepare to face serious legal consequences. In a video statement released Tuesday, top federal officials laid out their warning to individuals and groups supporting violence during the Los Angeles unrest—and confirmed they’re already taking action.

U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli, FBI Assistant Director in Charge Akil Davis, and IRS Special Agent in Charge Tyler Hatcher jointly announced that those “aiding and abetting acts of violence during civil unrest” would be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. And they’re not just talking.

Essayli opened the message by affirming Americans’ right to peaceful protest but called out those exploiting demonstrations to assault law enforcement and destroy property. “Unfortunately, we’ve seen individuals whose intentions are to cause damage and to assault law enforcement,” he said. He cited the recent arrest of a man charged with conspiracy and aiding civil disorder.

FBI official Davis doubled down, stating, “We will continue to investigate individuals and organizations who are knowingly funding or committing acts of violence against law enforcement as well as the destruction of property.”

Meanwhile, the IRS is tracking the money. “Each dollar funneled into illegal operations fuels violence,” Hatcher explained. “Funding crime doesn’t just affect the criminals; it also disrupts entire communities.” He vowed that investigators would identify and expose the networks financially supporting the riots.

Essayli ended with a stark reminder: “Think before you act. The legal consequences… are harsh. They include imprisonment and fines.”

The message comes just days after the FBI arrested Alejandro Theodoro Orellana for allegedly handing out face shields to rioters in Los Angeles—a charge of conspiracy to commit civil disorder. Officials say he was an early enabler during the city’s anti-ICE riots, which have now cost Los Angeles nearly $20 million in damages, police overtime, and emergency response efforts.

Despite claims from Mayor Karen Bass and Governor Gavin Newsom that things were under control, federal authorities say otherwise. With assaults on officers, damaged property, and blocked freeways, the reality is anything but peaceful.

Trump’s decision to deploy 700 Marines and federalize the National Guard after five days of violence sent a clear message: the federal government will not stand by as law enforcement officers are attacked and chaos spreads. LA Police Chief Jim McDonnell backed up that assessment, admitting that the situation spiraled beyond the city’s control.

The crackdown has begun—and federal agencies are watching not just those throwing bricks, but those writing checks.

Stay tuned. The Summer of Love 2.0 just hit a serious roadblock.
