FBI Confirms SJSU 'Hate Crimes' Were Committed by a Self-Described '100% Woke Social Justice Activist'

Someone scrawled "Kill All Jews" in a San Jose State University restroom. Swastikas appeared on walls. One message read: "SJSU, Sorry, But for Allah 3/11 Will Be 9/11." Another referenced "MAGA 2028." The pattern seemed tailor-made for a very specific narrative.

The FBI found the guy. He's a 30-year-old graduate student who describes himself as "100% woke."

Ziheng "Tony" Fang was arrested Friday and made his initial court appearance on July 10, 2026, facing federal charges for at least 20 instances of hateful and threatening messages targeting Jewish students, Muslim students, and others at SJSU. The messages appeared in men's and gender-neutral restrooms dating back to at least 2024, with the most recent incident occurring in May 2026.

The Justice Department noted that "in many instances, these messages included threats specifying a particular date that an attack was allegedly intended to take place." Bomb threats. Specific dates. The kind of language designed to terrorize — and to point suspicion in a very particular direction.

And that direction was exactly where you'd expect. The "MAGA 2028" graffiti practically begged observers to assume a right-wing perpetrator. Messages targeting both Jews and Muslims simultaneously should have been the first red flag — the ideological incoherence of hating both groups in the same bathroom stall doesn't map onto any real political movement. But coherence has never been a requirement for the hate-crime-hoax genre.

The FBI built its case the old-fashioned way: a latent fingerprint, surveillance footage, and electronic key card entries that placed Fang at the scenes. CBS News reported that the "hate speech in the messages targeted Jewish and Muslim people, 'Libs', and people of Asian or Mexican heritage" — a target list so broad it reads less like ideology and more like a checklist designed to maximize outrage.

SJSU Police had been investigating the incidents for two years before the FBI stepped in. Two years of a campus community living under the assumption that a right-wing extremist was stalking their restrooms. Two years of fear directed at a phantom.

The actual perpetrator was a self-described "social justice activist." The FBI's own complaint uses that phrase. Not conservative media's characterization — the bureau's.

This follows a pattern so well-documented it barely qualifies as surprising anymore. The demand for hate crimes consistently outpaces the supply, and the gap gets filled by people who believe so fervently in systemic bigotry that they'll manufacture evidence of it. Fang targeted Jews, Muslims, Latinos, Asians, and "Libs" — essentially everyone — then signed the work "MAGA" like a forger leaving a calling card.

Twenty incidents over two years across a major university campus. The perpetrator left fingerprints, showed up on surveillance cameras, and swiped his key card at every scene. He described himself as 100% woke.

The call was coming from inside the safe space.
