Schumer Just Compared Ending Race-Based Map-Drawing to Jim Crow — The Guy Who Sorted Voters by Skin Color Says WE’RE the Racists

The Supreme Court just ruled that you can’t draw congressional district maps based on the color of people’s skin. Seems pretty straightforward, right? Treat people as individuals, not racial categories? Well, Chuck Schumer took one look at that ruling and declared it “a return to Jim Crow.”

Yes, THAT Jim Crow. The one with the fire hoses, the segregated lunch counters, the poll taxes, and the dogs. Apparently ending racial gerrymandering is exactly the same as telling a Black man he can’t drink from a public water fountain. Classic Schumer.

We need to slow down here and appreciate the industrial-grade irony on display. The Democrats’ position — the one they are publicly defending on camera — is that the government SHOULD sort voters into districts based on their race. That’s their argument. They want racial sorting. And when the Supreme Court said “hey, maybe don’t do that,” Democrats called it racist.

Read that again. The people who want to organize Americans by skin color are calling the people who stopped it segregationists.

(Someone check on the irony meter. Pretty sure it just exploded.)

Schumer marched right up to a microphone and delivered the performance with a straight face, too. Congressional Democrats lined up behind him nodding solemnly like they were at a civil rights memorial instead of a press conference about redistricting math. These are the same people who couldn’t name a single Jim Crow law if you spotted them the “Jim” and the “Crow.”

Here’s what actual Jim Crow looked like, for anyone in Congress who skipped that day in history class: Black Americans were denied the right to vote. Period. They were beaten for trying to register. They were forced to guess how many jellybeans were in a jar to “qualify” for a ballot. They couldn’t sit at a lunch counter, ride in the front of a bus, or send their kids to the same school as white children. People died fighting to end it.

And Chuck Schumer just compared all of that to… losing the ability to draw a squiggly congressional district shaped like a salamander having a seizure so Democrats can pack minority voters into predetermined seats.

That’s the comparison. Fire hoses and church bombings on one side. Redistricting software on the other. Totally the same thing.

The real tell here is what Democrats are actually upset about. They’re not upset about voting rights — every single American still has the exact same right to vote today that they had yesterday. Nobody lost a single right. What Democrats lost is the ability to pre-sort voters by race to engineer electoral outcomes. That’s what this is about. They built an entire political strategy around racial gerrymandering, the Court just took away their favorite toy, and now they’re throwing the mother of all tantrums.

Pop quiz: If your entire electoral strategy depends on sorting human beings into racial categories, are you the civil rights heroes or the other guys? Take your time, Chuck.

The Congressional Black Caucus joined in too, because of course they did. Several members compared the ruling to “erasing decades of progress.” Progress toward what, exactly? Progress toward a system where your skin color determines which congressional district you get shoved into? That sounds less like progress and more like something Bull Connor would’ve designed if he’d had a computer.

Meanwhile, Justice Thomas wrote in his concurrence that race-based redistricting “relegates citizens to racial blocs” — which is literally what it does. You take a map, you look at where the Black people live, you draw a line around them, and you call it a district. Democrats have been doing this for decades and calling it justice. The Supreme Court just called it what it actually is.

But sure, Chuck. It’s Jim Crow. The ruling that says “stop categorizing Americans by race” is definitely the same as the system that categorized Americans by race. We can all see the logic there.

The best part? Schumer’s going to fundraise off this. Within 24 hours there’ll be an email in every Democrat donor’s inbox with “JIM CROW IS BACK” in the subject line and a big red donate button at the bottom. The outrage isn’t real — it’s a product. They manufacture it, package it, and sell it to gullible liberals who think sending ActBlue fifty bucks will somehow un-decide a Supreme Court case.

We should probably send Justice Roberts a thank-you card. And maybe a history book for Senator Schumer — he clearly needs one.
