The day before his firing — May 7, 2025 — Hamilton testified before a House Appropriations subcommittee. Connecticut Democrat Rep. Rosa DeLauro asked him point-blank whether FEMA should be abolished. Hamilton answered, "I do not believe it is in the best interest of the American people to eliminate the Federal Emergency Management Agency." The next day, he was out.

DHS even subjected him to a polygraph test over alleged meeting leaks. He passed. Didn't matter.

Now, a full year later, Trump has renominated the same man to permanently run the agency he was fired from defending. If you're confused, don't be. This is vintage Trump.
